PROFESSIONAL GARDENER

HWA is looking to hire dynamic gardeners who can perform horticultural maintenance and seasonal tasks under the direction of a Garden Supervisor. As part of a team, gardeners are expected to uphold HWA standards of aesthetics, plant health, environmental consideration, and hardscape with integrity and passion.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist Garden Supervisor in garden service maintenance visit tasks

  • Participate in all horticultural activities including planting, pruning, fertilizing, and seasonal maintenance

  • Maintain hardscape reflecting HWA standards

  • Alert supervisor to all site conditions and plant health issues

  • Observe safety and security procedures; respect confidentiality

  • Demonstrate thoughtfulness, thoroughness; collaborate with colleagues

Qualifications:

  • Ability to take direction well and complete multiple tasks with detail and proficiency; problem solving, organizational skills and initiative

  • Interest in urban horticulture, sustainability, the environment, and motivated towards the development of professional gardening skills

  • Presentable appearance, professional demeanor, and strong communication skills with supervisors, crew, and clients

  • Able to regularly move 50 pounds up and down a flight of stairs

  • Positive attitude, enthusiastic towards regularly working outdoors year-round and in varying weather conditions

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Professional gardening experience in urban settings 2 year minimum

  • Coursework in horticulture, environmental studies, agriculture or related fields

  • Working knowledge of garden irrigation/lighting systems

  • Authorized to work in the United States

Additional Information: $25-29/hour; part-time or full-time hourly position; tools, uniform, PPE provided; benefits include M/D/V, bonuses, holiday/sick pay, continuing education

DELIVERY VAN DRIVER

HWA is seeking a full-time Delivery Van Driver to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience navigating New York City traffic and be committed to safety, professionalism, and teamwork.

Responsibilities:

  • Safely operate company delivery vehicles in NYC, primarily Manhattan

  • Load and unload landscape and construction materials, including lifting up to 50 lbs.

  • Follow company vehicle safety policies and NYC commercial vehicle regulations

  • Maintain professional appearance and demeanor

  • Communicate effectively with team members and office staff

Qualifications:

  • Valid driver’s license with an excellent driving record

  • Experience driving in NYC and familiarity with street locations

  • Agreeable disposition and ability to work well with others

  • High energy and ability to work in all weather conditions

  • Ability to carry loads up and down stairs

  • Knowledge of vehicle safety protocols and defensive driving

  • Authorized to work in the United States

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Experience with gardening or landscaping tools

  • Familiarity with plants, construction and carpentry equipment

  • Report writing

  • Inventory control
